Looking over the year, there have been a number of brand new innovations this year and a carryover from last year in the line of gadgets and toys.

Everyone is using technology nowadays: Your mom, your dad, brother and sister...oh, and grandma and grandpa, too. Heck, even Santa had a turbo boost installed this year on his sled! ;-)

If you know me, you know that I'm a technology geek. I've actually been called Q (from James Bond) a number of times because of all the unique gadgets that I've accumulated over the years.

If you are looking for family gift ideas for Christmas, I've been working on this list for 2 weeks to try and find the latest bit of awesome technology to make your Christmas gift-giving easier for the holidays.

So I hope this list of Christmas Gift Ideas will get your creative juices flowing as to what everyone in your family will want this Christmas.

Let me know if there is something I left off of Santa's list in the comments below.

Here we go!

One last thing: before you dig in, there's even more christmas gift ideas from past (and recent) years over at our Holiday Gift Guide.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Her

Apple iPad Air 2 (affiliate link)

Apple iPad Air 2 (affiliate link)

No list would be complete without a couple of Apple products on it.

My wife loves her Apple iPad 2 and hasn't had a moment without it (and yes, it may be time for an upgrade).

(affiliate link)

Soft Plush Coral Fleece Mega Throw Blanket (affiliate link)

These are the type of blankets that make the cold nights feel really great. We have a maroon one and they feel fantastic. My wife loves these kind of blankets.

(affiliate link)

Grace Digital Wi-Fi Music Player (affiliate link)

If you cook as a family, or just want to have a radio in your bathroom while getting ready (NOT NEAR THE TUB! ;-) ), here is a great way to stream the Internet. Just make sure you have a good connection.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Him

(affiliate link)

Sony HDRAS20/B Action Video Camera (affiliate link)

Since this is currently the best seller on Amazon, I figured this would be great for a dad to get those action shots during vacation, in the backyard, or capturing office antics at work.

(affiliate link)

Sony Playstation 4 (affiliate link)

Most guys are into the gaming consoles as opposed to PC games, which I don't get, but this is one of the two consoles that are hot this holiday season.

(affiliate link)

MagnoGrip Magnetic Wristband (affiliate link)

I bought this for my dad since he's mostly a hands-on guy and does a lot of handy work around the house. He LOVES this while roofing or other hammer-y jobs.

(affiliate link)

Leatherman Skeletool Multitool (affiliate link)

My dad has a number of tools, but this one seems to encompass everything he would need in a single tool. I think I found my father's Christmas present. :-)

Christmas Gift Ideas for the Gamer

(affiliate link)

TN Games 3rd Space Gaming Vest (affiliate link)

This would definitely be for the hard core gamer. These vests let the player feel what is actually happening similar to the vibration in a Playstation 4 controller. When they are shot in the arm, the arm would vibrate in the vest.

Not my cup of tea, but some games love these gaming vests.

(affiliate link)

Nvidia 3D Vision 2 Wireless Glasses Kit (affiliate link)

Now we're talking! These glasses give you the ability view your game in 3D. However, your monitor should support the 3D effect of the game as well, but it definitely immerses you into the action.

(affiliate link)

Steam $50 Gift Card (affiliate link)

If you have a PC gamer in the family, then they no doubt have heard of Steam. There are so many games that are delivered right to their PC. All they need is a gift card to start downloading their favorite game. No heading to the store is necessary...EVEN ON CHRISTMAS! :-)

(affiliate link)

ION iCade Arcade Cabinet for iPad (affiliate link)

I miss the old arcade days, but this takes me back. You need an iPad to make this work.

It works awesome. My wife was a Pac-Man addict and now she can play it on her iPad...arcade-style. :-)

Christmas Gift Ideas for Designers/Developers

(affiliate link)

Cable Matters SuperSpeed USB 3.0/2.0 to 2.5"/3.5" SATA Hard Drive Docking Station (affiliate link)

I have one of these at home and it has already paid for itself. I have a number of old hard drives around the house and even when my son bought a new computer, he needed some files off of the old computer.

No problem.

I also had a neighbor who had an issue with their old computer and couldn't start their computer to access their data on the hard drive. Disconnect the hard drive and plug it into the "toaster" and you can use the hard drive like a USB Drive.

Needless to say, they were happy I had it.

(affiliate link)

Samsung 840 EVO 250GB 2.5-Inch SATA III Internal SSD (affiliate link)

If you have not experienced an SSD drive, it's design to work like a USB Flash Drive. Instead of mechanical parts, it's all flash memory. I emplore you to run, not walk, to a store and purchase an SSD (Solid State Drive). When installed, it will be a 10x increase in speed for your developer/designer. This will make anyone's computer faster than normal.

(affiliate link)

Bose QuietComfort 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling Headphones (affiliate link)

Bose has always had a great reputation and these headphones are no exception. My friend has a pair of these and trust me when I say they are definitely noise canceling. When you are programming or designing something, you can definitely hear (or NOT hear) the difference while coding.

Whatever your headphones are plugged into, it's the only thing you hear when you have these on.

(affiliate link)

MK809III Mini PC TV Box, Android 4.2.2, RK3188 Quad Core up to 1.6GHZ, 2G RAM (affiliate link)

How awesome is this? A whole computer in the size of a USB drive. All you need to do is attach to a monitor and keyboard and you are off and running. Have Mini PC, will travel.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Parents

(affiliate link)

Savino Wine Saving Carafe (affiliate link)

This Carafe is perfect for serving wine and saving wine. :-) It's perfect for your parents (or in-laws) when they have guests over and they need to entertain.

Break out the Carafe!

(affiliate link)

Logitech HD Pro Webcam C920, 1080p Widescreen Video Calling and Recording (affiliate link)

This is the latest model of my webcam that I bought a couple years ago and it's definitely durable and lasts for a while.

Why you ask would I recommend getting a WebCam for my parents/in-laws? If it's an extreme distance to "grandma's house," they need to see your family more frequently.

Radmo Car Mount(affiliate link)

Radmo Car Mount (affiliate link)

Now this one may take a while. If you have patience and can hold out, the Radmo company is currently making them. They are in production.

The Radmo car mount is meant to go inside the CD player and holds your phone or tablet while driving. This would be absolutely perfect for any parent who gets lost and use the navigational systems of the world.

I placed an order for $20 and it should be coming soon. Even though the Indiegogo is over, you may still be able to buy one over at Radmo.

Christmas Gift Ideas for the Traveler

(affiliate link)

WD My Passport Ultra 1TB Portable External USB 3.0 Hard Drive (affiliate link)

Even though the cloud is available for most, it doesn't hurt to have a backup drive of your data when you are in remote regions of the world.

The Western Digital My Passport is small enough to put in your pocket, but large enough on storage (1 Terabyte, woof!). This will definitely hold a lot of MP3s, videos, and pictures.

(affiliate link)

iHome Bluetooth Keyboard for iPad 1 and 2 and iPhone (affiliate link)

I already talked about this in a video review on my site. I constantly use this keyboard while out on the road. It's large enough to type comfortably on it, but small enough to carry around without it being bulky.

(affiliate link)

Global Adapter with Fast 2.4A Charging (affiliate link)

The nice thing about this adapter is that it charges your electronics super fast. I love the design of the sliding plug. You don't need any separate plugs at all. It also works in 150 countries and works with tablets, laptops, smartphones, and digital cameras.

(affiliate link)

Easy2Pick Luggage Locator (affiliate link)

If you've been at the airport waiting for your luggage and trying to find one that looks like yours, then this may be the gadget for you.

It has a photo electric sensor that senses when it is in the cargo of the plane or when it is on a luggage carousel.

(affiliate link)

Smart AC Automotive Power Strip (affiliate link)

I threw this in as a last minute addition. I ALSO need to get me one of these as well.

Christmas Gift Ideas for CEOs/Startup types

(affiliate link)

3M Pocket Projector MPro 120 (affiliate link)

I used to have a older model of the 3M Portable Projector, but it was a little too old to recommend in this list. Luckily, they have a newer model that's more durable (my old one was silver, this ones black)

The LED light source has a 20,000 hour life which means there isn't a replacement bulb. It also has 4 hours of battery life and two built-in speakers. Pretty cool!

(affiliate link)

Travelpro 22-Inch Expandable Rollaboard Suiter Bag (affiliate link)

We have a TravelPro and the carry-on is really durable. Since it's just a carry-on, it doesn't HAVE to go into the cargo area on the plane. It's 22" high and limited lifetime warranty.

The reason I added this to the CEO/Startup category is because I recently met a couple of higher-ups who's luggage looked as if they picked it up at the Goodwill store.

(affiliate link)

Logitech Wireless Presenter R400 (affiliate link)

Logitech has always had a reputation with their wireless devices which is why I'm adding this one onto the list for executives in startups. I'm pretty sure they'll be doing the horse-and-pony show for board members.

It doesn't hurt that this is the #1 remote in Office Presentation Remotes either.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Entrepreneurs

MOO Cards (affiliate link)

MOO Business Cards (affiliate link)

I've been using MOO cards for a long time and they don't make just business cards. They also produce Flyers, Postcards, and MiniCards. They create an exceptional business card. A gift card would fit an entrepreneurs' stocking real nice. :-)

(affiliate link)

Scansnap Ix100 Wireless Mobile Scanner (affiliate link)

Need a portable scanner? ScanSnap is a great quality name when it comes to scanners. The best part is that you don't have to strain carrying this particular scanner around. At only 2.2 pounds as a sheet-feeder scanner, you can scan receipts and business cards on the fly and relax when you get back to the office.

(affiliate link)

CANON PIXMA iP110 Wireless Mobile Printer (affiliate link)

When selecting this printer, as mentioned above, it needed to be light and easy to carry around with you. At 6.6 pounds, it's probably the closest you'll come to having your office printer in your car. It even comes with an optional battery so you can take your printer anywhere.

Square Reader (affiliate link)

Square (affiliate link)

If you have a startup and you are selling something, how cool would it be to pull a Square Reader out of your pocket, connect it to either an iPad, iPhone, or Android device, and swipe their credit card and make a transaction wherever you are?

Square was made just for that reason.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Students

(affiliate link)

Polaroid Instant Mobile Printer (affiliate link)

I have a Dell Mobile Printer and if this is the same as that one, I can see your student becoming the life of the party. Imagine this...you take a picture with your smartphone, pair up using Bluetooth to the mobile printer, and start printing out the photo you just took!

There is one drawback. You have to use a special kind of paper called Zink paper. But just think...it's the closest thing to having a Polaroid Camera back in the day. ;-)

(affiliate link)

Fire HD 7, 7" HD Display, Wi-Fi, 8 GB (affiliate link)

You knew this was coming. Students are using tablets more and more in schools and it becoming popular because of the number of books that students don't have to carry. The Amazon Fire is becoming a competitor now with Samsung and their tablet line.

Since they also have a huge library of eBooks, Audio Books, and magazines, it just makes sense to get an Amazon Tablet.

(affiliate link)

Microsoft Xbox One (affiliate link)

I am truly shocked that my son hasn't asked for an XBox One. This is supposed to be the hot item for gamers this year as well.

Who wouldn't want to come back to a dorm and relax by killing some aliens?! ;-)

(affiliate link)

Jawbone JAMBOX Wireless Bluetooth Speaker (affiliate link)

The Jawbone JAMBOX is great for taking music to the beach, a friend's apartment, or just listening to music through your smartphone...anywhere.

The speaker has 10 hours of power from an internal rechargeable battery and can seamlessly stream and share music, movies, games, and even provide conference calls.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Photographer

(affiliate link)

Joby JM3-01WW GripTight GorillaPod Stand (affiliate link)

I know a lot of photographers use GorillaPods, but, in my opinion, I can always use one more.

(affiliate link)

Digital Foci Photo Safe II OTG (affiliate link)

I had a Memory Card Backup Storage device called HyperDrive a while ago and I even wrote about it in a post. This device saved me more headaches than ever.

Here is how it works: You turn on the device, insert your card into the slot, press a button, and it immediately starts to copy all of the files onto the hard drive. If you decide to copy it again, it creates a brand new folder and copies the files over again until you decide to clean up the folders. You can use the USB cable to connect to a laptop or computer and use it like an external portable hard drive.

For photographers, I imagine this can save you a lot of time (and space) managing your photos with a portable hard drive.

(affiliate link)

Canon EOS Rebel T5i Digital SLR (affiliate link)

This is an oldie, but a goodie. I have always loved Canon or Nikon because of their lenses and they haven't failed me yet.

The Canon EOS Rebel can perform 5 FPS of continues shooting, has an ISO expandable to 25600, and can record video at 1080 (30, 25, and 24 FPS) and 720 (60, 50 FPS) HD Video.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Kids

(affiliate link)

Parrot AR.Drone 2.0 Power Edition Quadricopter (affiliate link)

It seems drones are in the news more and more these days. Why not get one for your kids? (with proper parental supervision, of course).

The Parrot can fly for 36 minutes, has live video streaming and HD video recording, and also has an automatic stabilization system for indoor and outdoor flying.

I need to get me one of these. ;-)

(affiliate link)

iTunes 25$ Gift Card (affiliate link)

Great as a stocking stuffer, the iTunes gift card is something that everyone can enjoy whether they are buying music, apps, or movies. It'll make the kids happy with whatever they download.

(affiliate link)

Monopoly Brand Game Zapped Edition (affiliate link)

Ahh yes. Saturday or Friday nights playing a board game with the family. My how times have changed. Requires an iPad.

(affiliate link)

Funko POP Vinyl Characters (affiliate link)

I have never seen such collectibles take off like Funko's POP Vinyl Characters. It doesn't matter what character you know, fiction or science fiction...there is a character made in Vinyl from Funko. Examine the collection at Amazon to find the best character to start your collection today.

Christmas Gift Ideas for Everyone

(affiliate link)

PNY Metal 32GB USB Drive (affiliate link)

There is a saying in the computer industry. You can never have too much hard drive space or memory (RAM). I categorize USB drives under the hard drive storage.

Everyone today needs more storage. As I mentioned in a previous post, I have a 64GB Metal Flash Drive and it rocks! Just get another one to backup your backup. ;-)

(affiliate link)

RAVPower 3rd Gen Deluxe 15000mAh External Battery Portable Dual USB Charger (affiliate link)

The reason I selected this one was 1). it was a best seller, 2). my friend has one and swears by it, 3). it has a total storage of 15000mAh (translation: plenty of juice for charging) and 4). it doesn't look like a girly-charger!

(affiliate link)

GCW-ZERO Open Source Gaming Console (affiliate link)

This gaming console has a number of the old arcade games and consoles featuring NES, SNES, GBA, Sega, Playstation (Original) and PC.

Looking to play old school? This is the gadget to reminisce about the arcade games back in the day.

(affiliate link)

Doctor Who Sonic Screwdriver of the 11th Doctor (affiliate link)

According to the product description, "Better than Fish Fingers and Custard."

(affiliate link)

Google Chromecast HDMI Streaming Media Player (affiliate link)

Get your Chromecast on! This ittle device plugs into the USB port in the back of your smart TV. From that point on, you can control your TV using your tablet or phone. You also receive a small number of apps, such as NetFlix, YouTube, HBO Go, Hulu Plus, Pandora, and others.

Pretty good for a USB device. Oh, and it's also the #1 Best Seller in the Electronics category on Amazon.

Wearable Christmas Gift Ideas

(affiliate link)

Fitbit Charge (affiliate link)

I had a FitBit Flex and I returned it because of the recall. I will probably be buying another one soon. I hear they are coming out with a new one that is similar to a smartwatch as well as a fitness tracker.

Personally, I love the FitBit name, it's reliable and durable, and it works.

Myo Arm Band

I ordered a Myo and it should be coming in the mail soon (I hope). The Myo is an arm band that detects when you make a muscle or flex in your arm. You can then send those specific actions to an electronic device to do something.

I am definitely excited about receiving one. Hopefully, it's before Christmas.

(affiliate link)

Polar V800 GPS Sports Watch with Heart Rate Monitor (affiliate link)

Here is one device that has something that the FitBit does not: a Heart Rate Monitor (but I hear its coming). It's even waterproof to 100ft, scratch-resistant, and has a 14-hour rechargable battery life.

(affiliate link)

Pebble Smartwatch for iPhone and Android (Black) (affiliate link)

If you are looking for the ultimate smartwatch on the market right now, that would be the Pebble Steel SmartWatch.

You can download watch faces and apps to suit your style and interests, control music that plays through iTunes, Spotify, and Pandora, and it works with Apple and Android devices.

It's also the #1 seller on Amazon right now.
